Dr. Don McReynolds, DVM

Dr. McReynolds along with his partner Dr. Bill LaRue founded the Animal Medical Center in August of 1958. He graduated from Kansas State University with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1956, and then entered the the U.S Army Veterinary Corp., as a food inspector, serving two years in active duty. Dr. Mc Reynolds, along with his partner, grew the practice over the next 20 years, purchasing a practice in Humboldt, Kansas, for a short time and then expanding the practice in Chanute, Kansas to include a haul-in large animal facility. In the late 1950’s Dr. Mc Reynolds assisted the Kansas Animal Health Department and the USDA in testing cattle for the Brucellosis Eradication Program. This program was successfully concluded, as Kansas became Brucellosis free in 1999.


Dr. McReynolds received the Life Time Achievement Award from Dr. Vorhees in 2013.

Dr. McReynolds has become well established in the Chanute and Veterinary communities. Along with his partner, he served as Neosho County’s 4-H Veterinary Science project leaders for years. Dr. McReynolds has served as the secretary/treasurer of the Southeast Kansas Veterinary Medicine Association for many years. In 2013, he received the life time achievement award. Dr. Mc Reynolds partnership with Dr. LaRue is the longest recorded veterinary partnership in Kansas.

Dr. McReynolds is also an active member of the Chanute Kiwanis Club serving as secretary for over 37 years. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served and chaired several committees. With the support of his wife and children he has provided Southeastern Kansas with exceptional service and has expanded the knowledge and education of veterinary medicine in Kansas.
